Abstract

Administratively the northern waters of Sampang are located in the area of Madura Island, East Java Province. The northern waters of Sampang are famous as salt islands, of course, Madura island has special characteristics that are very dominant for salt productivity in Indonesia. Based on this background, this study aims to determine the distribution of salinity and the level of salinity levels in the waters north of Sampang. Information about the distribution of salinity in the northern waters of Sampang has never been researched, so it is needed for basic information in the use of coastal development. And efforts are needed to monitor the distribution of Salinity distribution values using Aqua Modis remote sensing satellite data focusing on 2017 and 2021 also carried out sampling in the field directly, namely on the north coast of Sampang Regency. The results of this study and satellite imagery data obtained a correlation value of 0.172949856. What is obtained from the highest R2 result, so that it can be known that the equation that has the largest degree of determination R2 is found in the power equation at Rrs 645 nm. With the equation obtained is y = 5E-23x12.942 with the result R² = 0.443. Which means between the data obtained from the field and the data from satellite imagery has a strong positive correlation that indicates the suitability of the regression model. The usefulness of this study is expected to provide information and be able to find out the high level of salinity distribution and the distribution of Salinity thematic maps in the northern waters of Sampang for 5 years from 2017 to 2021 so that it can be used as a guide in the construction of buildings on the coast.
