Abstract
Painting is one of the oldest works of art in the world. In Indonesia itself, painting entered during the Dutch colonial period. The trend of Western European art at that time towards romanticism made many Indonesian painters participate in developing this trend. According to the Big Indonesian Dictionary (KBBI) painting itself is the art of drawing and painting. The development of painting itself has penetrated all cities in Indonesia, one of which is in the city of Sampang, Madura. The motifs of the paintings drawn have various important meanings such as a history or depicting an important event. With so many artists in the city of Sampang, a place is needed to appreciate the work of the artists and support tourist attractions as destinations for local and inter-local residents. The design concept refers to the theme of Cultural Revitalization because currently the people of Sampang have started to be modern but still remember the original regional culture. With a Neo-Vernacular Architecture approach, which is characterized by a combination of modern buildings and ancient buildings, it fits the design theme. With the existence of a painting gallery in Sampang City, it is hoped that it can be a place to show and appreciate the artists in Sampang City. Can introduce the arts and culture of the city of Sampang to the outside community and make it a cultural tourism place that can improve the economy of local residents.
