Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine and prove the effect of gender, accounting difficulties, career opportunities and fraudulent phenomena on student decisions in choosing accounting majors at State Universities and Private Universities in Surabaya. This study uses quantitative research using primary data sources obtained by distributing questionnaires. The population of this research is accounting students and undergraduate management program class 2018 at the Surabaya State Universities (UPN Veterans East Java) and Surabaya Private Universities (Surabaya University). Sampling calculated using the Slovin formula obtained a sample of 291 students. The method when the sample uses purposive sampling. The data analysis technique used is logistic regression analysis and Friedman test analysis calculated using SPSS 25.0 for windows. The results of this study indicate that career opportunities have a positive effect on students' decisions to choose accounting majors, while gender, accounting difficulties and the fraudulent syndrome phenomenon do not negatively affect students' decisions in choosing accounting majors.
