Abstract
Food security among farming households is determined not only by food production but also by their ability to meet household food needs. This study aims to analyze the proportion of food expenditure, energy consumption levels, household food security status, and factors affecting food security among rice farming households in Bajangan Village, Gondangwetan District, Pasuruan Regency. The study involved 54 rice farming households. Data were analyzed using the Two-Stage Least Squares (2SLS) method with EViews, while energy consumption was calculated using NutriSurvey. The results showed that average monthly food expenditure was IDR 1,225,459 (55.14%) of total household expenditure, which amounted to IDR 2,222,626 per month. Average energy consumption reached 1,815.6 kcal per day, with an Energy Consumption Level (ECL) of 86.5%. A total of 48.15% of households were classified as food secure, 20.37% as vulnerable to food insecurity, 14.81% as having insufficient food, and 16.67% as food insecure. The analysis showed that education, land area, household size, and household head's age affected household income. Household income and household size influenced the proportion of food expenditure, while the level of energy adequacy influenced energy consumption. The proportion of food expenditure had a negative and significant effect on household food security, whereas the level of energy adequacy had a positive and significant effect. Meanwhile, household income, education, household size, and household head's age had no significant effect on food security. These findings indicate that although nearly half of the households were food secure, further efforts are needed to improve household food security
