Abstract
Fresh graduates holding a bachelor's (S1) degree show relatively low interest in applying for jobs at manufacturing companies, despite the considerable availability of job openings in this sector. This phenomenon is presumably related to perceptions of Employer Attractiveness and Job Flexibility in manufacturing companies that are considered less suited to fresh graduates’ work preferences. This study aims to analyze the effect of Employer Attractiveness and Job Flexibility on the Job Application Intention of fresh graduates at manufacturing companies in Surabaya City. This study employed a quantitative approach using a survey method through an online questionnaire distributed to 130 respondents, namely fresh S1 graduates aged 22–26 years residing in Surabaya City and its surrounding areas who were interested in applying to manufacturing companies located in Surabaya City, selected using non-probability sampling with a purposive sampling technique. The data were analyzed using the Partial Least Square – Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method with the assistance of SmartPLS 3.0 software. The results show that Employer Attractiveness has a positive and significant effect on Job Application Intention, and Job Flexibility likewise has a positive and significant effect on Job Application Intention. Both variables simultaneously explain 63% of the variation in fresh graduates' Job Application Intention, which falls into the moderate category. These findings indicate that the higher fresh graduates' perception of a company's attractiveness as a workplace and the flexibility of work offered, the higher their intention to apply for jobs at manufacturing companies in Surabaya City.
