Abstract

Pakcoy (Brassica rapa L.) is a leafy vegetable that is vulnerable to defoliating pests, including Spodoptera litura. Fobio is a biological formulation containing organic materials and beneficial microorganisms with potential for pest suppression and plant growth support. This study evaluated the response of pakcoy and S. litura to several Fobio concentrations. The experiment was conducted from January to June 2026 using a completely randomized design with five treatments and four replications: untreated control, Fobio 5, 10, and 15 mL/L, and lambda-cyhalothrin 1 mL/L as a chemical comparison. Five third-instar S. litura larvae were infested on each plant. Leaf damage and larval mortality were recorded at 24, 48, and 56 h, while plant height and leaf number were observed at 7, 14, 21, and 28 days after planting. At 56 h, Fobio 15 mL/L produced the lowest leaf damage intensity (77.50%) and the highest larval mortality (95%), equivalent to the chemical treatment (78.75% damage and 95% mortality). Plant height was significantly affected at 28 days, with 8.39 cm under Fobio 15 mL/L compared with 8.77 cm under the chemical treatment. Leaf number at 28 days was also highest under Fobio 15 mL/L (3.44 leaves remaining). Fobio at 15 mL/L showed the most consistent response for reducing damage, increasing larval mortality, and maintaining vegetative growth under S. litura infestation
