Abstract
Java Island holds a strategic position in driving Indonesia's economy, contributing more than half of the nation's GDP. However, being the largest contributor does not preclude it from having the highest income inequality in Indonesia; for instance, the DKI Jakarta Province has a Gini ratio of 0.423, which exceeds Indonesia's national Gini ratio of 0.375. This study aims to determine the impact of GRDP per capita, regional government expenditure, and the Human Development Index (HDI) on income inequality in the provinces of Java Island. The study employs a quantitative approach using panel data regression analysis. The results conclude that GRDP per capita and regional government expenditure do not significantly affect income inequality in the provinces of Java Island. Meanwhile, the Human Development Index (HDI) does have an impact on income inequality in the provinces of Java Island.
