Abstract

This design report aims to design a Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) for a snack food industry with a wastewater capacity flow rate of 890 m3/day to meet environmental quality standards based on East Java Governor Regulation No. 72 of 2013. The initial characteristics of the wastewater include BOD 4,750 mg/L, COD 8,000 mg/L, TSS 2,000 mg/L, Oil & Grease 52 mg/L, Total Nitrogen 35 mg/L, and pH 4–4.5. The designed treatment process consists of Pre-Treatment (Conveyance Channel, Bar Screen, Equalization Tank), Primary Treatment (Grease Trap removing 95% of oil and grease, and Neutralization Tank with 35.6 kg/day NaOH dosage), Secondary Treatment (Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket / UASB removing 95% BOD/COD, and Activated Sludge), Secondary Clarifier, and Sludge Treatment (Sludge Drying Bed / SDB). The final treated effluent achieves BOD 48 mg/L, COD 40 mg/L, TSS 60 mg/L, Oil & Grease 3 mg/L, Total Nitrogen 4 mg/L, and pH 7, all complying with environmental effluent standards.
