Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of work stress and time management on job satisfaction among remote workers in East Java. Work stress is understood as the pressure that arises when job demands exceed an individual's ability to manage them, whereas time management refers to the ability to plan, organize, and control the use of time effectively. The study was conducted on employees working under either fully remote or hybrid remote arrangements in East Java, with a total of 133 respondents. Sampling was carried out using a purposive sampling technique based on the following criteria: active employment status, residence in East Java, a minimum age of 18, and a tenure of at least three months. A Likert-scale questionnaire served as the research instrument, and the data were analyzed using the Partial Least Squares (PLS) method. The results indicate that work stress has a significant negative effect on job satisfaction (β = −0.166; p = 0.019), while time management has a significant positive effect on job satisfaction (β = 0.741; p < 0.001). Time management exerts a more dominant influence than work stress. Collectively, work stress and time management explain 65.3% of the variance in job satisfaction among remote workers in East Java. Keywords: work stress, time management, job satisfaction, remote working.
