Abstract
This study aims to analyze the factors influencing labor absorption in the Large and Medium Manufacturing Industry (IBS) sector in the Jabodetabek area during the 2019–2024 period The factors examined include Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) in the industrial sector, minimum wage, Domestic Investment, number of business units, and Mean Years of Schooling. This study employs a quantitative approach using panel data covering nine administrative regions in Jabodetabek over the 2019–2024 period. The analysis was conducted using panel data regression with the assistance of EViews 12 software, with the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) identified as the most appropriate model. The results show that industrial-sector GRDP and mean years of schooling have a positive but statistically insignificant effect on labor absorption in the IBS sector. The minimum wage has a negative and statistically significant effect, while domestic investment and the number of business units have positive and statistically significant effects on labor absorption in the IBS sector in Jabodetabek. Simultaneously, all independent variables have a statistically significant effect on labor absorption in the IBS sector. The findings indicate that labor absorption in the IBS sector in Jabodetabek is more responsive to increases in domestic investment and the number of business units than to increases in industrial output and formal education. These findings are expected to provide input for the government in formulating employment policies and industrial development strategies in the Jabodetabek area.
