Abstract

Pharmacies play a vital role in the national healthcare system as providers of legally obtained medications to the public, including in rural areas where residents need access to medications without having to travel long distances to the city. CV. Apotek Satria Farma faces challenges in operational management, particularly regarding the integration of sales transaction records with medication inventory management. The Point of Sale (POS) system currently in use only records sales transactions and is not deeply integrated with inventory management, so stock takings, returns, and monitoring of expiration dates are still done manually. This situation has the potential to cause inaccuracies in inventory data, stockouts, or the accumulation of medication that has expired and is no longer suitable for use (deadstock). This study aims to develop an integrated POS system based on a desktop application that manages sales transactions and medication inventory by applying the First Expired First Out (FEFO) principle, equipped with a feature for forecasting medication demand using the Single Exponential Smoothing (SES) method based on sales data from 2024-2025. The system was developed using the Prototype model, with Laravel APIs for transaction and inventory management, and Python APIs for the forecasting process. The research results show that the system successfully integrated 9 business processes with 27 features, including the FEFO algorithm that runs automatically on the backend. Testing a values from 0,1 to 0,9 on 280 medicines showes that α=0,2 produced that lowest average MAE and RMSE and was therefore selected as the forecasting parameter used in the system. Black-box testing of 72 test scenarios showed that all scenarios were successfully executed according to the system design. The system was also evaluated by the partner six times and successfully implemented at CV. Apotek Satria Farma.
