Abstract
Siomak lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) is a leafy vegetable with high economic value and nutritional content. Continuous use of inorganic fertilizers can degrade soil quality; therefore, environmentally friendly organic cultivation strategies prioritizing sustainability specifically the use of organic fertilizers like animal manure are required. Animal manure improves soil properties and supplies both macro and micronutrients to the plants. This study aimed to determine the effects of and interactions between different types of animal manure (chicken, cattle, goat, and rabbit) and application rates (75, 100, 125, and 150 g/polybag) on the growth and yield of siomak lettuce. The experiment employed a factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three replications. Observed parameters included plant height, number of leaves, leaf area, and total fresh plant weight. The results showed no significant interaction between the type of manure and the application rate for any of the parameters. However, regarding individual factors, goat manure yielded the best results for plant height at 21 and 28 days after planting (DAP) and for the number of leaves at 35 DAP. The application rate of 125 g/polybag produced the best results for plant height at 35 and 42 DAP, the number of leaves from 21 to 42 DAP, and total fresh plant weight. Keywords: Siomak lettuce; Manure; Dosage
