Abstract
Mental health is one of the important aspects that needs to be considered because it can affect a person’s activities and quality of life. The mental health screening process requires proper result processing in order to provide an initial overview of the user’s psychological Condition. One of the instruments that can be used is the Depression Anxiety Stress Scales (DASS-21), which measures three dimensions, namely Depression (D), Anxiety, and Stress (S). However, the process of calculating and interpreting results manually can take time and potentially lead to errors. Based on these problems, this research aims to design and develop a web-based mental health screening system using DASS-21 by implementing the Forward-Chaining algorithm and the Rapid Application Development (RAD) development method in the case study of Biro Psikologi Prima Solutions. The Forward-Chaining algorithm is used to process user answers into scores, determine DASS-21 categories, retrieve self-care recommendations, and determine priority rules based on predetermined facts and rules. The system was then tested to determine the consistency of the inference results with manual calculations and the level of user acceptance. The results of testing 20 test data showed that all data produced appropriate outputs in the score calculation process, category determination, self-care recommendation retrieval, and priority rule examination, resulting in an accuracy of Forward-Chaining implementation of 100%. User acceptance testing also obtained a score of 89.21% from users and 98.33% from admin. Based on these results, the developed system is capable of implementing the DASS-21 screening process in a structured manner and producing screening information and self-care recommendations according to the predetermined rules.
