Abstract
This study aimed to evaluate the potential of three Streptomyces spp. isolates derived from the rhizosphere of Avicennia marina to inhibit the development of BLB in vivo assay and their impact on plant growth. The study employed a factorial CRD, with the first factor being the Streptomyces spp. isolates (St8, St9, and St19) and the second factor being the dosage of application (5 ml, 10 ml, and 15 ml/plant). Primary data were analyzed using ANOVA at a 5% significance level. In vivo antagonism assay results showed that applying isolate St19 at a dosage of 5 ml/plant delayed the incubation period of X. oryzae by 1.1 days but failed to suppress BLB disease intensity. This treatment also influenced the number of rice tillers, resulting in 13.6 tillers at 56 DAT, though it did not affect rice plant height. The study concludes that there is a discrepancy between the in vitro and in vivo assay results. While the potential of the tested Streptomyces spp. isolates remains limited, they did exert a significant influence on the incubation period and the number of tillers. Keywords: bacterial leaf blight, Streptomyces spp., biological control, rice (Oryza sativa L.), Avicennia marina.
