Abstract

Abstract The armyworm (Spodoptera litura Fabricius) is one of the major pests that cause damage to various crops, making it necessary to develop effective and environmentally friendly control alternatives. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a combination of neem leaf extract (Azadirachta indica) and Streptomyces sp. against S. litura based on mortality symptoms, feeding inhibition, mortality rates, and the time to death (LT₅₀). The study was conducted in vitro using a completely randomized design (CRD) with five treatments: negative control, 10% mimba extract, Streptomyces sp., a combination of mimba extract and Streptomyces sp., and the insecticide decis, each with five replicates. Applications were made using the leaf-dipping method on third-instar larvae. The results showed that the combination produced the highest Feeding Deterrence Index (FDI) value of 33.84% and fell into the weak antifeedant category. Mortality rates for the combination differed significantly at 96 and 120 hours after application, with mortality rates of 32.00% and 63.80%, respectively, and reached 100% at 192 hours. Probit analysis showed that the combination had the lowest LT₅₀ of 111.343 hours. Thus, the combination of neem extract and Streptomyces sp. has the potential to enhance the effectiveness of S. litura control compared to single applications. Keywords: Azadirachta indica, Streptomyces sp., Spodoptera litura.
