Abstract

Raw material inventory management is a crucial aspect of ensuring smooth production operations. Inaccurate determination of inventory levels can lead to raw material shortages—risking production delays—or excess inventory, which increases holding costs. This study aims to analyze the inventory management of urea fertilizer raw materials by determining the optimal order quantity, safety stock, reorder point, and maximum inventory level. A quantitative method employing the Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) approach was used, utilizing data on inventory, raw material consumption, ordering costs, holding costs, and lead times for the year 2024. The analysis indicates that the total requirement for urea fertilizer raw materials in 2024 was 253,432 kg, with an average daily consumption of 704 kg. Calculations yielded an Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) of 100,646 kg, a safety stock of 2,645 kg (based on a standard deviation of 6,782 kg), and a reorder point of 12,501 kg (with a 14-day lead time). These findings can serve as a basis for determining raw material order quantities and timing, thereby maintaining material availability and minimizing the risk of stock-outs. Keywords: Inventory, Economic Order Quantity, Safety Stock, Reorder Point, Urea Fertilizer.
