Abstract
PT XYZ is a ceramic manufacturing company. Its production operations currently suffer from an unbalanced distribution of workloads across stations, preventing optimal utilization of production capacity. This situation results in idle time and balance delays, thereby reducing production line efficiency. This study aims to analyze the condition of the production line and propose improvements using the Ranked Positional Weight (RPW) method. Data were collected through direct observation using the stopwatch time study method. The gathered data were used to calculate standard times, construct a precedence diagram, and determine the positional weight of each element as a basis for grouping workstations. The results indicate that the initial configuration of eight stations could be optimized to six workstations without compromising the production process sequence. Following the implementation of the RPW method, the production line achieved an efficiency of 97.49%, a balance delay of 2.51%, and an idle time of 9.35 seconds, alongside an increase in production output by 449 boxes. The findings demonstrate that the method effectively distributes workloads in terms of time, thereby enhancing the efficiency of the ceramic production line at PT XYZ.
