Abstract

Flooding is one of the most frequent types of hydrometeorological disasters occurring in Indonesia. At the local level, particularly in Trucuk District and Bojonegoro District, flooding is often triggered by a combination of relatively extreme rainfall and limited river capacity to convey water flow. Based on these conditions, this study aims to map flood-prone areas in Trucuk District and Bojonegoro District using a Geographic Information System (GIS). This study employed a qualitative method, which is intended to describe a phenomenon by collecting extensive data. In the data analysis process, ArcGIS Pro was utilized to conduct an overlay analysis using the Intersect method on four main parameters, namely rainfall, slope, soil type, and land use. Each parameter was assigned a score and weight according to its influence on flood potential, and all parameters were then combined to produce a flood-prone area map. The overlay results were subsequently classified into five flood susceptibility classes, namely very low, low, moderate, high, and very high, based on the calculated score intervals. The results showed that the very low susceptibility class covered an area of 1,053 ha (16%), the low class covered 2,873 ha (43%), the moderate class covered 81 ha (1%), the high class covered 1,141 ha (17%), and the very high class covered 1,557 ha (23%) of the total study area. The GIS-based mapping also identified the main factor influencing flood susceptibility. The analysis indicated that slope was the most influential parameter because it had the highest weight, with a value of 3 for each slope class. The study area was predominantly characterized by flat slopes of 0–8%, covering approximately 6,638 ha (99%), while undulating slopes of 8–15% covered 65 ha (0.9%), and rolling slopes of 15–25% covered only 2 ha (0.1%). The dominance of flat terrain resulted in a high score value of 27 for areas with flat slopes, indicating that slope has a significant influence on the determination of flood susceptibility in the study area.
