Abstract
**ABSTRACT** Sodium silicate is an inorganic chemical product that is widely used in various industrial applications, including detergents, adhesives, paper, and water treatment. The increasing demand for sodium silicate encourages the development of a domestic production facility to reduce dependence on imported products and utilize the availability of raw materials. This preliminary plant design aims to design a sodium silicate plant using sodium carbonate and silica sand as raw materials through a dry process with a production capacity of **70,000 tons/year**. The production process consists of raw material preparation, mixing, reaction in a furnace, cooling, dissolution, impurity separation, and product storage. In the furnace, sodium carbonate reacts with silica sand at an operating temperature of **1,400°C** to produce sodium silicate and carbon dioxide. The molten sodium silicate is subsequently cooled and dissolved in water using a rotary dissolver to obtain a homogeneous sodium silicate solution. The solution is then separated from impurities in a settling tank based on gravitational separation before being stored as the final product. The process is supported by utility units, including steam, water, electricity, and fuel supply systems. The furnace is equipped with a regenerator to recover heat from the flue gas and improve energy utilization. Based on the material balance, the production capacity is designed at 70,000 tons/year with an operating time of 330 days/year and 24 hours/day. The plant design includes process equipment, heat and material balances, utility requirements, and equipment specifications. Therefore, the proposed sodium silicate plant is expected to provide a technically feasible basis for domestic sodium silicate production while supporting the development of the chemical industry. **Keywords:** sodium silicate, sodium carbonate, silica sand, dry process, furnace, plant design.
