Abstract

PT Petro Jordan Abadi is a chemical manufacturing company whose main product is phosphoric acid, with sulfuric acid, fluosilicic acid, and purified gypsum as by-products. The company consists of three main plants, namely the Sulphuric Acid Plant, Phosphoric Acid Plant, and Purified Gypsum Plant. Its utility systems include Water Treatment (WT), steam boilers, electricity generation through a Steam Turbine Generator (STG), compressed air, and instrument air, while wastewater management is carried out in the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWT). Based on the performance evaluation of the Single Effect Evaporator (D-2501), the actual operating efficiency was found to be higher than that under the initial design conditions. Under the design conditions, the steam economy was 0.75, with an operating efficiency of approximately 75.49%, indicating an energy loss of approximately 24–26%. In contrast, under actual operating conditions, the steam economy increased to 0.98, with an operating efficiency of 98.22%, resulting in an energy loss of only approximately 1.78%. This increase in efficiency indicates that the evaporator performs more effectively under actual operating conditions compared with its initial design conditions.
