Abstract
The Paciran coastal area, specifically Putri Klayar Beach in Lamongan Regency, is a coastal zone characterized by diverse human activities, including fisheries, port operations, and infrastructure development. These activities have the potential to influence the oceanographic conditions of the waters, particularly parameters such as salinity and sea surface temperature (SST). Both parameters play a crucial role in characterizing the water and serve as important factors in coastal infrastructure planning, especially regarding the potential for corrosion in structures exposed to the marine environment. Therefore, this study aims to analyze and map the distribution of salinity and sea surface temperature in the Putri Klayar Beach coastal area from 2022 to 2026 using Landsat-8 satellite imagery. The research utilizes a combination of in-situ field measurements and Landsat-8 satellite data. Field data collection was conducted at 20 observation points, employing a refractometer to measure salinity and an infrared thermometer to measure sea surface temperature. The Landsat-8 data used included Bands 2, 3, and 4, as well as band ratios (Band 2/3, Band 2/4, and Band 3/4), which were processed using SeaDAS software and Microsoft Excel. Data processing stages involved converting Digital Number (DN) values to reflectance, developing regression models using linear, exponential, logarithmic, and power equations, and performing statistical analysis to identify the best-fit model. The results indicate that salinity values in the study area during the 2022–2026 period ranged from 10.097‰ to 39.155‰, while sea surface temperature values showed variations across the years of observation. The best model for mapping the relationship between salinity and sea surface temperature was obtained using the power equation y = 37674x⁻¹·⁹⁶⁷, with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.4186. Pearson correlation analysis yielded a correlation coefficient of -0.646830809, indicating a negative relationship with a moderately strong correlation between salinity and sea surface temperature. The data processing results are subsequently presented as thematic maps showing the distribution of salinity and sea surface temperature, as well as a map illustrating the relationship between these two parameters in the coastal area of Putri Klayar Beach, Lamongan Regency.
