Abstract

The Field Work Practice (PKL) was conducted at the Production Department IIIA of PT Petrokimia Gresik to gain an understanding of the production process and the application of Chemical Engineering knowledge in industry, particularly in the phosphoric acid production process. One of the activities involved analyzing the performance of vibrating screens in the phosphate rock screening process. The specific task aimed to compare the performance of the High Frequency Vibrating Screen (Screen A) and Horizontal Vibrating Screen (Screen B) based on particle size distribution and screening efficiency. The analysis was conducted by collecting phosphate rock samples before and after the screening process using mesh sizes No. 4, 9, and 100. The results showed that Screen B produced finer particles than Screen A. The screening efficiency obtained was 95.71% for Screen A and 99.5% for Screen B. Based on these results, Screen B was considered more suitable for producing particle sizes that support the dissolution of phosphate rock in the phosphoric acid production process.
