Abstract
Indonesia's agricultural sector plays a strategic role in the national economy and food security, but faces significant structural and demographic challenges. This study aims to analyze changes in the structure of Indonesia's agricultural sector as reflected in the comparison of the number of Agricultural Business Households (RTUP), Individual Agricultural Enterprises (UTP), the distribution of farmer age, and agricultural land area across three periods of the Agricultural Census (2003, 2013, and 2023), as well as examine the adoption rate and factors related to the use of modern agricultural tools and machinery (alsintan) or digital technology. The approach used is descriptive-quantitative with secondary data analysis using time series data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), which is evaluated using growth rate methods, trend analysis, and multi-dimensional comparison. The results show that the number of RTUP has fluctuated where there was a decrease in the period 2003-2013 before increasing again in 2023, while the number of Individual Farmers (UTP) shows an adjustment trend as the area of raw rice fields shrinks due to land conversion. From the demographic aspect, there is an aging of the age structure of farmers dominated by the elderly group, where the participation of millennial or young farmers is still limited. Nonetheless, the adoption rate of modern alsintan and digital technology shows a fairly progressive increase in 2023, although the spread is not yet completely evenly distributed. The adoption of this technology is associated with factors such as land area, business scale, education level, digital literacy, capital, as well as institutional and government policy support such as the Alsintan Taxi program. The implications of this study emphasize the need for policies to strengthen farmer regeneration, protect sustainable agricultural land, and equal access to technology to support the modernization of competitive agribusiness.
