Abstract

Investment intention is a psychological state reflecting an individual's inclination, attention, and intent to allocate financial resources into productive assets to generate future returns. This study aims to analyze the influence of financial literacy, perceptions of business income, and risk tolerance on the investment intentions of fish cracker MSME operators in Ujungpangkah Village, Gresik Regency. The research focuses on a coastal community characterized by unique business operations and financial conditions. The study population consists of 71 fish cracker MSME operators actively operating in Ujungpangkah Village. A non-probability sampling technique—specifically the saturated sampling method—was employed, meaning the entire population served as the study's respondents. Primary data were collected via a structured questionnaire survey and subsequently analyzed using the Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method with SmartPLS software. The results indicate that financial literacy positively influences investment intention, as it enhances the MSME operators' ability to manage finances and plan for business sustainability. Favorable perceptions of business income also drive investment intention; surplus income is not merely used for consumption but is increasingly allocated toward investments. Furthermore, high risk tolerance strengthens investment intention; because these MSME operators are accustomed to price fluctuations and market uncertainty, they view risk as a manageable challenge rather than a barrier to investment. These findings demonstrate that financial literacy, perceptions of business income, and risk tolerance play pivotal roles in fostering investment intention among fish cracker MSME operators in Ujungpangkah Village.
