Abstract
This study aims to analyze the influence of tour guides’ roles on visitors’ educational tourism experiences during the high season period at Batu Love Garden (BALOGA), Batu City. The role of tour guides was positioned as the independent variable and measured through three main dimensions: emotional intelligence, personality traits, and cultural intelligence. Meanwhile, educational tourism experience was treated as the dependent variable and measured through the dimensions of cognitive experience, affective experience, and social experience. This study is based on the assumption that the quality of interaction between tour guides and visitors plays a crucial role in shaping meaningful, enjoyable, and memorable learning experiences. This research employed a quantitative approach with an explanatory research design. The study population consisted of all visitors participating in educational tourism activities at BALOGA and guided by tour guides during the high season period. A total of 236 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. Primary data were collected through a questionnaire using a five-point Likert scale. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, validity and reliability tests, classical assumption tests, simple linear regression, F-test, t-test, and coefficient of determination (R²) with the assistance of IBM SPSS version 25 and Microsoft Excel 2013. The results indicate that tour guides’ roles have a positive and significant effect on visitors’ educational tourism experiences at BALOGA. The significance value of the t-test was less than 0.05, indicating that the research hypothesis was accepted. These findings suggest that the better the tour guides’ ability to communicate, demonstrate empathy, and adapt to visitors’ characteristics, the higher the quality of the educational tourism experience perceived by visitors. Therefore, improving tour guides’ competencies, particularly during the high season period, is essential to maintaining service quality and creating optimal educational tourism experiences.
