Abstract

Marine tourism has great potential to support environmental conservation, but tourist behavior often poses challenges to ecosystem sustainability. This study analyzes the impact of tourist behavior on sea turtle conservation activities in the Serang Beach Marine Tourism Area, Blitar, using a quantitative approach involving questionnaires, field observations, and a review of documentation. The results show that tourist behavior which is influenced by environmental awareness, travel motivation, and social norms has a significant correlation with conservation success; positive behaviors such as compliance with rules and participation in educational activities support habitat protection, while negative behaviors such as unsupervised direct interaction with sea turtles can threaten the ecosystem. Simple linear regression analysis confirms a positive influence of tourist behavior on conservation quality. Thus, this study contributes to the development of a conservation-based ecotourism model and provides practical recommendations for managers, local governments, and tourists to ensure that marine tourism proceeds in harmony with sea turtle conservation at Serang Beach.
