Abstract

Pancer Door Beach in Pacitan Regency is a coastal area directly facing the Indian Ocean, making it highly exposed to high-energy ocean waves and vulnerable to coastal erosion. The ongoing erosion has caused shoreline changes, degradation of the coastal environment, and potential disruptions to community activities and infrastructure surrounding the beach. Therefore, coastal protection measures are required through the planning of a breakwater structure. This study aims to analyze the wave characteristics and hydrodynamic conditions of Pancer Door Beach and to design a safe and effective breakwater capable of reducing wave energy. The data used in this study consist of ECMWF wind data, tidal data obtained from the Indonesian Geospatial Reference System (SRGI), and bathymetric data from GEBCO. The analyses included wind rose processing, tidal analysis using the Admiralty method, and bathymetric analysis to determine the design parameters.The results indicate that the maximum significant wave height (Hs) at the study site is 1.221 m, with the dominant wind direction originating from the southeast. Based on the 100-year return period wave analysis, the design wave height was determined to be 1.705 m. The tidal analysis yielded a Highest High Water Level (HHWL) of +1.304 m and a Lowest Low Water Level (LLWL) of −1.172 m. Considering the hydrodynamic conditions and design parameters, a submerged breakwater was selected as the most suitable coastal protection structure. The design results show that the main dimensions of the breakwater consist of a crest width of 2 m at the head section and 2 m at the trunk section. The structure is planned at a water depth of approximately 21 m to achieve optimum effectiveness in reducing wave energy. With this design, the proposed breakwater is expected to mitigate coastal erosion and improve water tranquility in the coastal waters of Pancer Door Beach.
