Abstract
Sweet corn (Zea mays saccharata Sturt.) is a food commodity with high economic value with increasing market demand in Indonesia, but its productivity is still low due to dependence on NPK chemical fertilizers that have a negative impact on the environment. Guano fertilizer can be used as a source of organic macronutrients, although the content of micronutrients such as zinc (Zn) which plays an important role in the process of photosynthesis is still limited. The use of Zn in the form of nanoparticles is expected to increase the efficiency of nutrient absorption so that the combination of guano fertilizer and ZnO nanoparticles has the potential to support vegetative growth and increase sweet corn yields sustainably. This study used a factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) with two factors, namely the dose of guano fertilizer and the concentration of ZnO nanoparticles which resulted in 16 treatment combinations, repeated 3 times to obtain 48 experimental units with a total of 144 plants. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and continued with the Honestly Significant Difference (HSD) test at a significance level of 5% if there was a significant difference. The results showed that the interaction between the guano fertilizer dose of 140 g/plant and the ZnO nanoparticle concentration of 150 ppm affected the growth parameters, namely plant length, number of leaves, and stem diameter. The guano fertilizer dose of 140 g/plant gave the best results on growth parameters, while the 180 g/plant dose gave the best results on yield parameters. The ZnO nanoparticle concentration of 150 ppm also gave the best results on the growth and yield of sweet corn. However, the application of the guano fertilizer dose of 180 g/plant combined with 150 ppm ZnO nanoparticles is recommended because it is able to meet the macro and micro nutrient needs more optimally to support the growth and yield of sweet corn plants. Keywords: Guano Fertilizer, Sweet Corn, ZnO Nanoparticles
