Abstract
This study aims to analyze the potential for developing educational tourism based on the historical heritage of the Majapahit Kingdom in Trowulan, Mojokerto Regency, focusing on the sites of Candi Tikus, Candi Bajang Ratu, Candi Brahu, and Candi Gentong. The research centers on three key aspects: the educational elements inherent in each site, the sites' capacity to broaden visitors' understanding and knowledge of Majapahit history and culture, and the suitability of the locations for supporting educational tourism activities. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, utilizing data collection techniques such as field observations, interviews with site managers and visitors, and document analysis. The findings indicate that these four temples possess historical and architectural value that can serve as learning resources regarding the social, religious, and governmental life of the Majapahit era, thereby offering the potential to enhance visitors' insight into the nation's history. Furthermore, the close proximity and accessibility of the four temples facilitate the creation of an integrated educational tourism route. However, limitations remain regarding interpretation facilities—specifically a lack of educational information boards and a shortage of tour guides competent in conveying historical significance to visitors. Consequently, developing educational tourism in the area encompassing Candi Tikus, Candi Bajang Ratu, Candi Brahu, and Candi Gentong requires strengthening educational facilities and providing guide training to optimize the function of historical learning for the public, particularly the younger generation. Keywords: educational tourism, historical tourism, Majapahit Kingdom, Trowulan, development potential, cultural heritage site
