Abstract
Indonesia is classified as a developing country that, in terms of the classification of countries based on the level of community welfare, still faces various problems, including unemployment. Among the various regions in Indonesia, Sidoarjo Regency is no exception to this problem, even ranking highest in terms of open unemployment rate in East Java. Unemployment can occur due to several factors, including population size, minimum wage, economic growth, and education level. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of population size, minimum wage, economic growth, and education level on the open unemployment rate in Sidoarjo Regency. This study is a quantitative study using secondary data taken from BPS with time series data covering the years 2004-2023. The results of this study indicate that population size and education level do not affect the open unemployment rate in Sidoarjo Regency, while economic growth and minimum wage have a negative and significant effect on the open unemployment rate in Sidoarjo Regency.
