Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of varying concentrations of paclobutrazol and dosages of NPK fertilizer, as well as their interaction, on the growth and yield of cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.). The research was conducted in Mojopurno Village, Wungu District, Madiun Regency, from February to April 2026. The study employed a Factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) with two factors and three replications. The first factor was the concentration of paclobutrazol (P), consisting of P1 (0 ppm), P2 (125 ppm), P3 (150 ppm), and P4 (175 ppm). The second factor was the dosage of NPK fertilizer (K), consisting of K1 (40 g/plant), K2 (50 g/plant), and K3 (60 g/plant). This design resulted in 36 experimental units. Parameters observed included plant height, leaf count, age of flower emergence, total flower number, total fruit number per harvest period, total fruit weight per harvest period, and fruit set. The results showed a significant interaction between paclobutrazol concentration and NPK dosage on plant height, leaf count, flowering time, total flower number, fruit yield per harvest period, and fruit set. The optimal treatment combination was identified as 150 ppm of paclobutrazol and 60 g/plant of NPK fertilizer, which provided the best results regarding flowering time, total flower number, fruit number, and fruit weight. Individually, the application of 150 ppm paclobutrazol and 60 g/plant of NPK fertilizer provided the most optimal effect on the growth and yield of cucumber plants compared to other treatment levels. Keywords: Cucumber plants (Cucumis sativus L.); Paclobutrazol; NPK fertilizer; Growth; Crop yield
