Abstract

PT Pertamina EP Sukowati Field Zona 11 is an oil and gas production facility operating in the Tuban area, East Java. In its production process, raw natural gas processing is carried out in the Condensate Plant unit at the Central Processing Area (CPA) to separate heavy hydrocarbons into condensate and produce light hydrocarbon gas sold to PT. Gasuma. However, the volume of condensate produced from the current system is still suboptimal due to temperature and pressure factors, along with the high volume of exhaust gas burned through the flare. The purpose of this special assignment is to identify the ongoing processes, determine the optimal operating conditions, and formulate strategies to increase gas production volume in the Condensate Plant. The method used is process analysis and simulation by comparing the current operating conditions (existing) against two main modification scenarios. These modifications include the addition of an expander to cool the gas to cryogenic temperatures, as well as the integration of exhaust gas from the Low-Low Pressure (LLP) Flare into the Condensate Plant system with the help of an additional compressor. Simulation results indicate that the use of an expander is proven to be more efficient in condensing heavy hydrocarbons into condensate rich in Natural Gas Liquids (NGL) such as propane and butane, while also producing very dry sales gas with 0% water content. Furthermore, the utilization of LLP Flare gas, which has a high methane content (around 80%), can significantly increase the flow rate of gas sold to PT. Gasuma up to 14,440 kg/hour (426.6 kgmol/hour) and produce condensate amounting to 43.79 kgmol/hour. In addition to improving the economic value of operations, the reprocessing of this flare gas successfully reduces exhaust gas emissions by 951 kg/hour into the environment. In conclusion, the modification involving the integration of an expander and the utilization of LLP flare gas is highly recommended for implementation as it can maximize revenue while supporting Indonesia's Zero Emission target in 2060
