Abstract

A Chromic Anhydride (CrO₃) plant using sodium dichromate dihydrate (Na₂Cr₂O₇·2H₂O) and sulfuric acid (H₂SO₄) through the wet acidification process is proposed to be established in the Java Integrated Industrial and Port Estate (JIIPE), Gresik, with a production capacity of 60,000 tons per year. The plant is intended to meet the increasing domestic demand for chromic anhydride and reduce Indonesia's dependence on imports. The production process includes raw material preparation, acidification in a Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor (CSTR), sodium sulfate separation, solution concentration, crystallization, drying, and product packaging. The plant is designed to operate continuously for 330 days per year, employing 252 workers, under a Limited Liability Company (PT) with a line-and-staff organizational structure. Economic evaluation indicates a Fixed Capital Investment (FCI) of IDR 697.29 billion, a Total Capital Investment (TCI) of IDR 1.345 trillion, ROI of 30% before tax and 23% after tax, an IRR of 18.35%, a Payback Period (PBP) of 2 years and 8 months, and a Break-Even Point (BEP) of 33%. These results indicate that the proposed chromic anhydride plant is technically and economically feasible and has strong potential to support domestic chromic anhydride production.
