Abstract

The increase in factory industry in Indonesia causes the presence of waste to increase, thereby polluting the surrounding environment. One of them is the existence of the batik industry which produces batik waste, usually the factory disposes of the waste carelessly without any prior treatment. To determine whether there is pollution caused by this waste, such as dyes, research was carried out to analyze the presence of dyes in batik waste. Various methods have been used to reduce dye pollution, using the adsorption method. There are several methods for making adsorbents, one of which is the impregnation method. This process is used to insert active metal in the form of FeCl3 into the pores of the support, namely zeolite. The adsorbent from the impregnation method (FeCl3/zeolite) aims to reduce the dangers of batik waste dyes through the adsorption process. As a study on the use of adsorbents in batik liquid waste, especially in reducing dye levels, research was carried out. The initial dye content in batik waste was 280 PtCo. The results of the research were carried out by varying the adsorbent mass (grams) and time (minutes). The variables used are masses of 250, 300, 350, 400, 450 grams and adsorption times of 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 minutes. The best results were with an adsorbent mass of 450 grams and a time of 10 minutes with a percentage reduction in dye levels of 27.86%. Reducing the concentration of dyes in batik waste by 78 PtCo, using FeCl3/zeolite adsorbent. The adsorption process for batik waste dye uses two methods, namely Langmuir and Freundlich. From the calculation results, the R2 value for Langmuir is R2 = 0.9133 and for Freundlich it is R2 = 0.8159. Keywords: Adsorption, Dye reduction, Batik waste, Adsorbent, FeCl3/Zeolite
