Abstract
This study aims to analyze the effect of investment, labor, and education on economic growth in East Kalimantan Province during the 2010–2024 period. The study is motivated by the fluctuating economic growth of East Kalimantan despite its abundant natural resources and the increasing levels of investment, labor, and education. This condition indicates a discrepancy between economic growth theory and empirical conditions, particularly in regions that are highly dependent on the mining sector. This research employs a quantitative approach using secondary time-series data, which were analyzed through multiple linear regression using EViews 12. Prior to hypothesis testing, the data were subjected to stationarity and classical assumption tests. The results show that investment has a negative but insignificant effect on economic growth, labor has a positive and significant effect, while education, proxied by the number of university graduates, has a negative and significant effect on economic growth. These findings indicate that investment has not contributed optimally because it remains concentrated in capital-intensive natural resource-based sectors, while the dominance of the mining sector has limited the absorption of university graduates into the labor market. Therefore, labor is identified as the most influential factor in promoting economic growth in East Kalimantan Province.
