Abstract

The Patra Hotel Surabaya is a multi-story building located in an earthquake-prone area; therefore, it requires a structural system with adequate strength, stiffness, and ductility to resist seismic loads. This study aims to modify the existing reinforced concrete structure into a steel structure using the Split-K Eccentrically Braced Frame (EBF) system, analyze the effect of the bracing configuration on the structural seismic response, evaluate the behavior of the link beam as the primary energy dissipation element, and determine the structural performance level and ductility based on pushover analysis in accordance with FEMA 356. The analysis was conducted following the provisions of SNI 1726:2019, SNI 1727:2020, SNI 1729:2020, and FEMA 356. The design results indicate the use of WF 350×175×7×11 secondary beams, WF 500×300×11×18 primary beams in the X direction, WF 400×300×10×16 primary beams in the Y direction, WF 300×300×10×15 bracing members, and King Cross KC 588×300×12×20 columns. The analysis results show a fundamental natural period of 0.972 s, with maximum story drifts of 18.756 mm in the X direction and 26.461 mm in the Y direction, both satisfying the requirements of SNI 1726:2019. Link beams with lengths of 1.4 m in the X direction and 1.2 m in the Y direction exhibited shear-dominated behavior and effectively dissipated seismic energy through the formation of plastic hinges within the link elements. The pushover analysis indicated an Immediate Occupancy (IO) performance level with a drift ratio of 0.01 in both directions. The structural ductility values were 5.54 in the X direction and 6.41 in the Y direction, indicating fully ductile behavior. These findings demonstrate that the application of the Split-K Eccentrically Braced Frame (EBF) system provides satisfactory seismic performance and fulfills the requirements for structural strength, stiffness, and stability under earthquake loading. Keywords: Ductility, Energy Dissipation, Link Beam, Plastic Hinge, Pushover Analysis.
