Abstract
Advances in information technology and the internet have brought about significant transformations, particularly within the video game industry. While the freemium business model emerged as a direct result of these technological strides, the strategy has faced major hurdles, as evidenced by the transaction stagnation observed in Albion Online from January to August 2025. This stagnation was triggered by a "crisis of perceived value" phenomenon caused by the high pricing of premium features, which created a mismatch between players' financial sacrifices and the benefits they received. To address this issue, this study aims to analyze the factors influencing the purchase intention of premium subscriptions by applying the Perceived Value model. The hypotheses proposed in this study state that Enjoyment, Social Value, Quality, and Economic Value positively influence Purchase Intention. Utilizing a Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) approach via the SmartPLS 4 application, this research involved 403 respondents. The structural analysis results reveal that the factors significantly driving purchase intention within the Albion Online ecosystem are Social Value, Quality, and Economic Value. These three dimensions were proven to have a positive and significant impact, making them the primary determinants in recalibrating players' perception of financial sacrifice. On the other hand, variables such as Enjoyment exhibited a negative and insignificant effect on purchase intention, indicating that the driving forces behind players' intent to purchase are independent of emotional value.
