Abstract
Baby cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) is a vegetable that commonly consumed in fresh condition. The utilization of green mussel shell waste as material for liquid organic fertilizer has the potential to become an environmentally friendly fertilization alternative and reduce the use of chemical fertilizers. The calsium and other nutrient contents in green mussel shells may support the growth and production of baby cucumber plants. The purpose of this study is to know the effect of green mussel shell liquid organic fertilizer (GMS LOF) concentration and NPK fertilizer dosage on the growth and yield of baby cucumber plants. The research was done from January to March 2026 using a two-factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three replications. The first factor: GMS LOF concentrations of 0, 50, 75, and 100 ml/L while the second factor: NPK fertilizer dosage of 0, 3, 6, and 9 g/plant. The collected data were analyzed using ANOVA followed by HSD test at 5% level. The results showed that the interaction between GMS LOF concentration and NPK fertilizer had no significant effect on vegetative growth, but significantly effected the generative phase and yield components. The combination of 75 ml/L GMS LOF and 3 g/ plant NPK fertilizer produced the highest number of female flowers, number of fruits per plant, fruit set, and fruit weight per plant. Individually, 75 ml/L GMS LOF resulted in the highest generative growth and yield, while 100 ml/L improved fruit shelf life. Dosage of NPK fertilizer 6 g/plant promoted the best vegetative growth, whereas 3 g/plant produced the highest yield with combination of GMS LOF.
