Abstract

This cornstarch-based sorbitol plant is designed with a production capacity of 50,000 tons per year. Located at the Pasuruan Industrial Estate Rembang (PIER) on Jalan Raya Raci, Bangil, Pasuruan, East Java, the plant is projected to employ 226 workers. It will utilize a semi-continuous operational system running 24 hours a day, with a total operating schedule of 330 days per year. The final product is 70% concentration sorbitol, which is widely used as an auxiliary raw material in the food, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical industries. To ensure production continuity, the primary raw material—cornstarch—is sourced from PT Daesang Ingredients Indonesia, while hydrogen gas (H2) is supplied by PT Samator Indo Gas. Domestic auxiliary materials are procured from several strategic partners: calcium chloride (CaCl2) from PT Timuraya Tunggal, hydrochloric acid (HCl) from PT Petrokimia Gresik, activated carbon from PT Javaindo Purestar Carbon, and sodium hydroxide (NaOH) from PT Asahimas Chemical. Meanwhile, specialized auxiliary materials—specifically alpha-amylase and glucoamylase enzymes—are imported from Sunson Industry Group Co. Ltd, and the Raney Nickel catalyst is imported from Gorwara Chemtech Pvt. Ltd.
