Abstract

Previously, the election for the Chairperson of the Information Systems Student Association at UPN “Veteran” East Java relied on Google Forms, as the Himasifo website was not yet utilized as the official voting system. This arrangement meant that result tabulation depended on the organizing committee and failed to provide voters with proof of their vote. This research aims to design and build a blockchain- based e-voting prototype to enhance the transparency and fundamental security of the election process. The study employs the Rapid Application Development (RAD) methodology, comprising requirements planning, system design through the Prototype–Test–Refine cycle, system development, and implementation. The system was developed using Next.js, Golang, MySQL, and CometBFT with ABCI to record voting transactions on the blockchain. It features 15 key functions: blockchain-based vote recording, voter anonymity, real-time vote counting, transparent result publication, role-based access control, candidate profile display, time-locked voting, duplicate vote verification, off-chain storage for non-critical data, a participation statistics dashboard, voting receipts, vote distribution charts over time, voter participation charts over time, multi-validator monitoring, and multi event voting. Testing results demonstrate that the system successfully prevents duplicate voting, records vote transactions on the blockchain, generates voting receipts, displays real-time results without revealing voter identities, and operates seven active validator nodes.
