Abstract
This internship, undertaken by students from the Interior Design Program at the “Veteran” National Development University of East Java, is part of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program, which aims to provide real-world work experience. The internship took place at PT. Griyo Mapan Santoso, a leading real estate company located in Central Park Juanda, Sidoarjo, from February 10 to June 14, 2025. During the internship, students participated in various professional activities involving the application of interior design to the Clubhouse Central Park Juanda project, ranging from the reception area to the gym. These activities included creating mood boards, selecting materials based on an industrial concept, planning the layout, and implementing lighting elements. In addition, students were also involved in designing house sections, curbs, paving, and custom cabinets. Through this process, students acquire various key competencies, such as project management, team collaboration, professional communication, problem-solving, and enhanced creativity. The challenges they face include adapting to the work culture, time management, and the differences between theory and real-world practice. However, all of these provide significant added value in terms of job readiness, expanding professional networks, and enhancing their design portfolios. Overall, this internship provided a very valuable experience in developing both technical and non-technical skills, while also strengthening the students’ readiness to enter the professional world of the interior design industry.
