Abstract

Sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum L.) is a strategic plantation commodity that plays a vital role in supporting Indonesia's food security and national economy. Kandat Subdistrict, Kediri Regency, is the second-largest sugarcane production center in Kediri Regency, yet it experienced a decline in production from 2021 to 2022 and significant price fluctuations that potentially affect farmers' income. This study aims to (1) analyze the production factors influencing sugarcane farming in Kandat Subdistrict, and (2) analyze the income and feasibility of sugarcane farming in the area. The research was conducted in Kandat Subdistrict in December 2025, involving 76 sugarcane farmer respondents selected through purposive sampling from a population of 320 farmers, with the sample size calculated using the Slovin formula (10% margin of error). Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression to examine the effect of land area, labor, capital, and farming experience on production, along with income and business feasibility analysis (R/C Ratio and B/C Ratio). The results show that land area has a positive and significant effect on sugarcane production, while labor, capital, and farming experience have a positive but not significant effect. The feasibility analysis yielded an R/C Ratio of 3.24, indicating that sugarcane farming in Kandat Subdistrict is feasible and economically profitable. These findings suggest that optimizing land utilization is the key factor in increasing production, while improving the efficiency of labor and capital use, along with support from local government and agricultural extension institutions, is needed to sustain sugarcane farming in the region
