Abstract
As Indonesia’s second-largest metropolitan city, Surabaya plays a strategic role as the center of government, the economy, trade, and educational and business activities in East Java. The high level of mobility among the city’s urban population has driven an increasing demand for accommodations capable of supporting a wide range of activities, from business trips and corporate affairs to seminars and tourism. In 2024, the number of tourists visiting Surabaya reached approximately 18 million. Three-star hotels play an important role in the hospitality industry because they cater to a segment of guests who require functional, comfortable, and presentable facilities. Hotels in this category are generally the choice for business travelers, government officials on official business, MICE event participants, and visitors seeking adequate mid-range accommodations. According to regulations from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, three-star hotels are required to have comfortable interiors, efficient. This design embraces the “Scandinavian Sustainable” concept—a blend of the simple, warm, and functional Scandinavian style with principles of sustainability through the use of eco-friendly and durable materials, as well as resource efficiency.
