Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the Micro and Small Industry (MSI) Output Value, Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) of the Industrial Sector, and the Provincial Minimum Wage (PMW) on employment absorption in the Micro and Small Industry (MSI) sector in Central Java Province. This study employs secondary time-series data covering the period of 2013-2024, which are analyzed using the multiple linear regression method. The results indicate that the MSI Output Value and the Industrial Sector GRDP have a positive and significant effect on employment absorption in the MSI sector. In contrast, the Provincial Minimum Wage has a negative and insignificant effect on employment absorption, suggesting that increases in the minimum wage may raise production costs and encourage business owners to improve labor efficiency. These findings imply that higher MSI output value and economic growth contribute to greater employment absorption, while minimum wage policies should be accompanied by improvements in labor productivity to avoid reducing employment opportunities in the Micro and Small Industry sector in Central Java Province.
