Abstract
This study aimed to evaluate the soil fertility status of agricultural paddy fields in Gresik, Lamongan, and Tuban areas, which were identified as potentially saline. Soil fertility is influenced by physical, chemical, and biological soil properties, while salinization can reduce rice productivity. This research was conducted to identify soil characteristics, evaluate soil fertility status, and determine the soil fertility index in the study area to provide information regarding the current soil fertility conditions. The study employed a descriptive exploratory method with soil sampling using cluster sampling based on the distance from the coastline. The first sampling point was located 2 km from the coastline, followed by subsequent points at intervals of 1 km. The T1 land showed the highest electrical conductivity (EC) value of 0.65 dS m⁻¹, which remained below the threshold of 2 dS m⁻¹ and was classified as non-saline soil. Agricultural lands in Gresik, Lamongan, and Tuban were categorized as having moderate soil fertility potential; however, improvements in organic matter and nitrogen management are required to enhance soil quality and increase rice productivity.
