Abstract
Quarter-life crisis is a phenomenon commonly experienced by individuals during emerging adulthood and is characterized by anxiety, uncertainty, interpersonal relationship challenges, and the search for meaning in life. This phenomenon is also constructed through musical works, one of which is Idgitaf's album "Mengudara," which portrays emotional experiences closely related to the lives of young adults. This study aims to analyze the discourse of quarter-life crisis in Idgitaf's album "Mengudara" using Teun A. Van Dijk's Critical Discourse Analysis. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with the nine songs in the album "Mengudara" as the object of analysis. Data were collected through documentation of song lyrics, interviews with Idgitaf, and other relevant supporting sources. The analysis was conducted using the three dimensions of Teun A. Van Dijk's Critical Discourse Analysis: text, social cognition, and social context. The findings reveal that the discourse of quarter-life crisis in the album "Mengudara" is constructed not as a representation of life failure but as a process of personal growth encompassing anxiety about the future, self-acceptance, interpersonal relationships, loss, and the search for life's meaning. At the textual level, this discourse is constructed through reflective, simple, and metaphorical language. In terms of social cognition, the discourse is influenced by Idgitaf's personal experiences, social knowledge, and humanistic worldview. Meanwhile, within the dimension of social context, the discourse is closely related to the phenomenon of quarter-life crisis, the increasing awareness of mental health, interpersonal relationship dynamics, and the search for meaning in life among emerging adults. This study concludes that the album "Mengudara" functions not only as a musical work but also as a communication medium that constructs a perspective of quarter-life crisis as a natural process of growth and adulthood.
