Abstract
Multireligious families have unique communication dynamics due to differences in religious beliefs, which influence the process of transmitting values within the family, including those related to partner selection. This study aims to examine the family communication strategies employed in multireligious families and how these strategies shape children's perspectives on choosing a life partner. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach. The object of this study is family communication strategies in multireligious families, while the subjects consisted of four multireligious families involving four parents and four children as informants. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings indicate that parents apply four communication strategies: narrative strategies, empathetic and dialogical strategies through open communication, argumentative strategies by conveying risks and rational considerations, and control and limitation strategies through the communication of family values and expectations. These communication strategies shape diverse perspectives among children regarding partner selection, including a preference for partners of the same religion, openness toward the possibility of interfaith relationships, and consideration of other factors such as character, responsibility, personal values, and relationships with the partner's family. This study concludes that children's perspectives on partner selection are shaped not only by the communication strategies employed by parents but also by their experiences in observing the dynamics of multireligious family life. Keywords: Family Communication Strategies, Multireligious Families, Children's Perspectives, Partner Selection.
