Abstract

The rapid advancement of biometric technology drives digital applications to integrate facial recognition for enhanced security and user experience, despite challenges regarding privacy perceptions and innovation readiness. This study analyzes factors influencing the intention to use the face recognition feature on the FotoYu app among individuals aged 17 and over. Data collection was carried out via a questionnaire-based survey, which successfully recruited 473 respondents. The data collected were then analysed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) and Importance-Performance Map Analysis (IPMA). The results indicate that Performance Expectancy and Personal Innovativeness significantly influence adoption intention, with both variables placed in Quadrant I of the IPMA matrix due to high importance and satisfactory performance. Furthermore, Trust in the System acts as a crucial Quadrant I variable that successfully mediates and mitigates the negative impacts of Performance Risk and Privacy Risk (Quadrant III). Conversely, Effort Expectancy and Facilitating Conditions fall into Quadrant IV, showing that resource allocation for ease of use is not currently a primary determinant. Ultimately, successful adoption relies on optimizing core functionality, innovative user segmentation, and robust system integrity while maintaining investment efficiency in technical support.
