Abstract
This study aims to design the interface of a Student Activity Permit Information System for the Faculty of Computer Science, UPN “Veteran” Jawa Timur, using the Lean UX method. The main problem addressed in this study is that student activity permit administration is still conducted through several separate platforms, such as WhatsApp, Google Spreadsheet, Google Drive, and Google Calendar. As a result, proposal tracking, document archiving, activity scheduling, and process status monitoring have not been optimally integrated. The Lean UX method was implemented through four stages such as Declare Assumptions, Create an MVP, Run an Experiment, and Feedback and Research. Data were collected through observation and interviews with 14 respondents representing Student Activity Organizers, Organization Administrators, Administrative Staff, and Faculty Executives. The collected data were used to formulate assumptions, hypotheses, proto-personas, features, sitemaps, user flows, wireframes, a design system, and an interactive prototype. The evaluation was conducted through usability testing using the Single Ease Question (SEQ) and the System Usability Scale (SUS), supported by Heuristic Evaluation (HE). The evaluation results indicate an improvement in design quality from the first iteration to the second iteration. In the SEQ evaluation, the number of tasks with scores below the threshold value of 5 decreased from eight tasks in the first iteration to none in the second iteration. The overall SUS score increased from 72.75 to 87, with second-iteration scores of 87.5 for Student Activity Organizers, 85.5 for Organization Administrators, 86.25 for Administrative Staff, and 88.75 for Faculty Executives. All scores were classified as Grade A, with an adjective rating of Best Imaginable and an acceptance level of Acceptable. The HE results also showed improvement, from seven individual findings with severity 3 and two individual findings with severity 4 in the first iteration to no severity 3 or 4 findings in the second iteration. Therefore, the proposed interface design is considered feasible as a design recommendation for the development of the Student Activity Permit Information System.
