Abstract
The DVD rental industry continues to offer a unique viewing experience, especially for customers seeking classic films or specific genres that are hard to find on digital platforms. DVD Rental faces the challenge of managing the operations of two stores located in different countries, each with diverse customer preferences. To address this challenge, this project employs data visualization based on the dvdrental database to evaluate store operational performance and understand customer preference patterns. The visualization process involves systematic stages, ranging from data processing through a staging area, data warehouse construction, to the design of intuitive visualization dashboards. The visualized data includes information related to popular movie genres, customer behavior patterns, and store operational efficiency. These visualization results provide strategic insights to support more effective inventory management, the curation of relevant movie collections, and the enhancement of services based on local needs. From a technical perspective, this project successfully integrated data using various tools, such as PostgreSQL, DBeaver, Pentaho, and Tableau, to create an end-to-end data analytics solution. From a business perspective, the insights generated support data-driven marketing strategy planning, inventory optimization, and improved customer experience. With a data-driven approach, the DVD Rental store can leverage these visualization results to strengthen business competitiveness amid the dynamics of the modern entertainment market and ever-evolving customer needs.
